Multiple streams of promotion

All self-published authors search for the Ultimate Book Promotion Tool. A tool that will promote their book to millions and help them reach the #1 spot on the bestselling list. In a perfect world an author is required to schedule a single book promotion and all he needs to do is sit back, relax and watch his book climb up the charts.

Truth is such a tool does not exist and will probably never exist. The competition for entertainment in the 21st century is vast. All publishing companies and authors are pushing books. The entire e-book market is overflooded with titles and becoming a one night wonder is almost impossible.

All of you have probably read about Amanda Hocking and John Locke. However, their success happened years ago. The competition was not as vicious as it is in 2014 and if they are to release a book now, I highly doubt the title will reach top ten.

In order to be successful in 2014, self-published authors need to be everywhere and use every single tool they can put their hands to. They need to develop what Project Bloodnoon calls - multiple streams of promotion.

To make it easier, I will put together a simple scheme:

Promotion tool #1 is a very respected tool in the industry. It alone brings you 700 sales and 70 new followers to your Social Media sites.

Promotion tool #1 may look really impressive and a must. However, it is still not enough and you need to combine it with something else.

All other tools are not as good as #1 and will not bring as many sales, but:

Promotion tool #2 brings you 100 sales and 10 followers to your Social Media Sites. Not as impressive as Book Promotion tool #1, but still a good attempt.

Promotion tool #3 brings you 60 sales and 6 new followers. A not so bad attempt

Promotion tool #4 brings you 30 sales and 3 new followers. Still better than 0 sales and 0 followers.

Now let's make a simple math. Promotion tool #1  brought 700 sales and 70 followers. Tools #2 #3 and #4 brought together 190 sales and 19 followers.  When put together all tools bring 890 sales and 89 new followers. If you keep adding more  tools those numbers will increase.

What all that means is this - You cannot rely on a single source for promotion. You need to use everything. Your product is constantly on the market, which means - you constantly need to market it. You cannot promote it once and expect eternal sales. Always promote it by using different tools, different methods and a unique approach.

Small wins stack up as well as your audience. Building a fan base is important. If you can get 10 more followers, get them. If they like you and share your books those simple 10 followers can easily double or triple. Value your readers. Each and every one of them matters.
