Multiple streams of promotion

All self-published authors search for the Ultimate Book Promotion Tool. A tool that will promote their book to millions and help them reach the #1 spot on the bestselling list. In a perfect world an author is required to schedule a single book promotion and all he needs to do is sit back, relax and watch his book climb up the charts.

Truth is such a tool does not exist and will probably never exist. The competition for entertainment in the 21st century is vast. All publishing companies and authors are pushing books. The entire e-book market is overflooded with titles and becoming a one night wonder is almost impossible.

All of you have probably read about Amanda Hocking and John Locke. However, their success happened years ago. The competition was not as vicious as it is in 2014 and if they are to release a book now, I highly doubt the title will reach top ten.

In order to be successful in 2014, self-published authors need to be everywhere and use every single tool they can put their hands to. They need to develop what Project Bloodnoon calls - multiple streams of promotion.

To make it easier, I will put together a simple scheme:

Promotion tool #1 is a very respected tool in the industry. It alone brings you 700 sales and 70 new followers to your Social Media sites.

Promotion tool #1 may look really impressive and a must. However, it is still not enough and you need to combine it with something else.

All other tools are not as good as #1 and will not bring as many sales, but:

Promotion tool #2 brings you 100 sales and 10 followers to your Social Media Sites. Not as impressive as Book Promotion tool #1, but still a good attempt.

Promotion tool #3 brings you 60 sales and 6 new followers. A not so bad attempt

Promotion tool #4 brings you 30 sales and 3 new followers. Still better than 0 sales and 0 followers.

Now let's make a simple math. Promotion tool #1  brought 700 sales and 70 followers. Tools #2 #3 and #4 brought together 190 sales and 19 followers.  When put together all tools bring 890 sales and 89 new followers. If you keep adding more  tools those numbers will increase.

What all that means is this - You cannot rely on a single source for promotion. You need to use everything. Your product is constantly on the market, which means - you constantly need to market it. You cannot promote it once and expect eternal sales. Always promote it by using different tools, different methods and a unique approach.

Small wins stack up as well as your audience. Building a fan base is important. If you can get 10 more followers, get them. If they like you and share your books those simple 10 followers can easily double or triple. Value your readers. Each and every one of them matters.

How people decide which book to buy

First I want you to consider book reading as some sort of entertainment. People read books because they want to be entertained. With this being the 21st century the competition for entertainment is tremendous. You have books, you have movies, you have music, you have games. With that in mind people are not  desperate to buy books and the majority of people prefer other forms of entertainment than reading a book.

A very high percentage of people buy a book, because they've heard about it somewhere. The book had a little buzz going on which was enough to interest someone in buying it. In that case the customer knew exactly the book's name and knew what to type in the ''Search bar''.

The other case is when a potential customer is not interested in a specific title and he searches the web for something interesting. The psychology around the browsing process is pretty much the same for everyone and goes as follows:

   1) The customer opens the retailer's website.
    2) Browses
2-1) As he browses he sees only these things:
A) Book Covers
B) Book Names
C) Number of Reviews (Overall Rating)
D) Price
   3) At this point the buyer sees multiple titles and compares them judging by the things I mentioned above. If something catches his eye, he opens the product page and examines closely.

From that you need to understand the following thing - A buyer does not know the quality of the book, until he starts reading. So you may have written the best book in the world, but nobody will know unless he actually reads it. A poorly written book can sell ten times more than a great one only because it looks more appealing and lures naive customers.

With that in mind, you need to make your product appealing. Make it stand out by working on these factors  - catchy book name, competitive price, high-quality cover and a very big number of reviews. Those factors will stay there for a lifetime and are worth investing in.

How to create a powerful concept for a book

There is one amazing unwritten rule about concept. Create a character. Then create a goal and make your character do the thing he least wants to do in order to achieve it. Make him struggle. Here's an example:

 1) We create a character. In the worst case scenario the character will be a casual every day normal woman. She doesn't stand out and there is nothing special about her.

 2) Okay, so what's the thing a normal woman would hate to do and would never do if given such an opportunity? Let's say she will have to find herself a pimp and become a prostitute. But why on Earth would she do that?

 3) Because she has a goal. Her daughter was kidnapped and our character suspects that the kidnappers are pimps and she must join this type of  underground society if she wants to see her daughter again.

To brief it up, here's how our concept will look like. A normal every day woman must enter an underground ( prostitute ) society in order to search for her kidnapped daughter. To make it more interesting we can add - later on she discovers a whole network of under aged children trafficking.

There you have it. Do you see how easy it was to create a powerful and "catchy" concept? That's the professional way to do it, but sadly very few self-published authors do it. Why? Because they are dying to tell a story, only they, themselves, can relate to, which makes their story UNMARKETABLE TO THE MASS AUDIENCE.

Don't write a story that ONLY YOU want to read. Don't write a story in which YOU EXPRESS YOURSELF. After all YOU WANT TO SELL that story. And if you want to sell something make sure it is appealing to the customer. Something HE can dig his teeth into, NOT YOU.

Project Bloodnoon

What is Project Bloodnoon?

Project Bloodnoon can be considered as a ''tool'' authors can use in order to be more successful. It offers a wide spectrum of services such as connecticting authors with reviewers, promoting books to a large volume of readers and cover designs.

Why Project Bloodnoon?

Because authors want to see results when they pay for something. They want those results to be fast and to carry an enormous amount of quality. Project Bloodnoon focuses on the authors's needs. 99 % of the companies who offer such services just require you to click an Order Now button and there is practically no conversation between author and service provider. Project Bloodnoon believes that authors need to have full control over everything and need to be informed step by step how the service they have paid for is going. That's why there is no Order Now button on this site. Because we want to communicate with the authors and make sure they will get the results they want before  they place an order.

Feel free to leave Project Bloodnoon an e-mail with any questions or personalized inqueries for anything not mentioned in the lists of services Project Bloodnoon provides.
